Boring Day

Tuesday, March 1st, 2011

Today Grayson and I are hanging at the Volvo dealership. A stupid tire sensor keeps telling us that one of the tires is low on air, but everytime we check them they appear to be full. So, Derek sent us to have it checked out.

That means a lot of waiting, because I didn’t think about it being the 1st of the month. The waiting room is full and Grayson is teething and got his 6 month shots yesterday. So, we’ll see how this goes.

Status Update: (12:51 pm) Amazingly enough, even with two other people in the waiting area that arrived before me the Volvo service guys got me and the little dude out of there in just over an hour. We were pulling out of the lot just minutes before 12:00 pm with a free car wash I might add. That is one awesome thing about the Volvo service center; they always wash your car and vacuum the floor boards when you bring your car in for service.

I am eternally grateful to the service department for being so speedy, because Squishy was NOT wanting to nap in his car seat and we were reaching the point of peoples ears beginning to bleed no return.

Friday, October 23rd, 2009

For all you out there in the Twilight Fandom I’ve got some exciting news.  Tto celebrate the release of The Twilight Saga: New Moon movie, Volvo is giving away two tickets to the world premiere in Los Angeles on November 16, 2009 to one very lucky fan.  To enter just click on over to WhatDrivesEdward.com and sign up.  As some of you may know, I have recently become a Volvo lover and owner just like Mr. Edward Cullen.  Thank you very much.  I’ve signed up and I’m ready to win….how ’bout you?

Not to mention, by entering to win tickets to the New Moon premier, you’re automatically entered into the What Drives Edward contest, which begins November 1 and runs through November 23, where you could win a brand-new Volvo XC60, just like Edward’s in New Moon. I mean just look at this thing, IT’S GORGEOUS!  It’s also the same color as my sweet little S40 R-type. Even if I were to win this sweet ride I am 100% Team Jacob.

Our Little Boy Turned 1

Thursday, April 2nd, 2009

Well, it finally happened.  Our little Rufus (that’s what we call the car) hit the big 1-0-0-0.  That’s right 1000 miles.  I felt like Al Bundy on Married With Children waiting and watching with anticipation for the turn of that odometer hit 1,000,000 miles.  I know mine had 3 less zeros at the end of the number, but it was still a momentous occasion.

To celebrate Rufus’ 1st big mileage, we bought him something fancy to wear.

That New Car Smell…

Thursday, February 26th, 2009

Today is a good day, my sinus headache is gone, Derek and I re-financed our house yesterday, we are going to see Keller Williams @ the New Daisy on Saturday, and…..we bought a gorgeous new vehicle yesterday.

We decided on the Volvo S40 (T5)…it has a 5 cylinder turbo charged engine.  I drives like a dream and it is easy on the eyes.  We just happened to luck out with the package.  We were only in the market for a quality vehicle, but the sweet sound system, racing pedals (yes I know…), and black leather interior sure make that 20 minute drive to work each morning a pleasant experience.

One of the best features of this vehicle is the backless center console.  Typically the area behind the radio, A/C, and other miscellaneous things is completely closed in.  Well not in this car….all of those things are on a flat curved panel that has an opening behind it from the driver’s side to the passenger’s side.  Behind the panel in the open area is where your change tray is, or for the ladies with bags small enough….you can put your purse back there.  Imagine that ladies…not having to have one hand on the wheel, one eye on the road, and the other hand and eye searching around on the floorboard for your purse!  I love it!!!

backlessDid I mention that the key is plastic?  Well it is.  I still resembles the old styling of Volvo keys, but to keep your key from being replicated, and your car stolen they actual key portion is plastic with a chip inside of the device.  In case the remote’s battery dies you can remove what looks like a metal key ring attachment piece from the top of the remote and use it to unlock your door.  It will not start the engine though.
