We had spectators while we unboxed….

So when you are married to what you would call a geek, like I am, there are a certain set of rules you must abide by once you have purchased a piece of “new” technology.

Geek Techno Rule #1

• The item may not be removed from it’s packaging until it arrives at your home

Geek Techno Rule #2

• For an optimal unboxing experience the area must be cleaned and organized with plenty of “layout” space

Geek Techno Rule #3

• No less than a 5 mega pixel camera may be used to document the unboxing of said technology

Geek Techno Rule #4

• If using a still camera to document the unboxing one must use digital camera to take a crisp image of each minute step of the unboxing process (digital camera is mandatory so that the images can be blogged about later along with the 50,000 other people who captured their unboxing on camera)

Geek Techno Rule #5

• Along with documenting every step of the unboxing process, detail pictures must also be taken from every angle imaginable to really capture the essence of the unboxing moment

I am wanted to inform you people who are not married to geeks or are geeks themselves for a particular reason.  On Monday June 8th, Apple held their annual developer’s conference called WWDC.  At WWDC Apple announces upgrades and/or enhancements they have made to their current product offering.  They also announce new products and models to the market.  About 5 minutes after the keynote ended on Monday I received a call from Derek saying “The Apple store is back up…want me to go ahead and buy the new 13 inch MacBook Pro?”  I gave him my blessing to make the purchase, and I will be taking pictures of it too in just a few days.  Not to mention, I got a sweet iPod touch out of the deal.  Currently, Apple is running a promotion through September 8th for college students and faculty.  If you teach or go to college you not only get a nice student discount off the price of your purchase of a Mac, but you also get a free 8gb iPod touch (after rebate).  Thank goodness for Derek going back to school. He’s going back to get his Master’s degree in being a super geek MIS.  Yes, I do realize that the iPod touch is not new to the market, but it is new in general.

And now……the unboxing…..

Confession:  I get just as excited about this stuff as he does, but I learned to love it…he was born that way!
