Reflecting the Past
Wednesday, January 28th, 2009When Derek and I got married my mom asked for only one thing…a picture of me & her just like a picture that she had taken with her mom on her wedding day.

I’m glad she asked.

So this past week I went to the DMV to change the name on my license to my new last name “Davenport”. Well little did I know, they made me take a new picture. I think everyone has to take a picture anytime they renew now (if you go in). Well at least my skin waited until after the wedding to do this, but it popped up a big fat zit on my forehead! I also decided, for some crazy reason, to go with the “no smile” look for my new picture…and I look a tiny bit MAD. I don’t look bad in the picture, but it definitely could look better.
Oh well, this just gives me incentive to look my best for the next time I get my license renewed. I did still have my honeymoon tan in the picture, so that’s a plus! Oh yeah, I forgot to mention….my signature is worse than my picture! Let’s just say that I must have started signing off the pad, because it looks like some guy named Ralph signed my license.
Five days until the big day. I couldn’t be more excited to become Mrs. Jennifer Davenport. And for all of you wondering, no I have not yet started practicing signing my new last name. I need to get on that one…it’s a long last name. D-A-V-E-N-P-O-R-T.
This is the cake that I modeled mine after. Mine has some slight variations though. I will not spoil the surprise and tell you about them. I will tell you that my wedding cake will be 4 layers with the top and bottom layers being Red Velvet (my absolute fave!!!!), and the two middle layers being white & chocolate (one flavor per layer). I figured that not everyone likes red velvet cake so I decided to to Bridezilla out on this one and give the people what they want…..chocolate & white layers.
I know, I know…..I am too kind. You can thank me at the wedding when “my” teeth are stained a lovely shade of red from the cake.

My wedding dress has officially arrived! I am so excited. My mom and I are going to have a dress trying on party. I’m so glad it made it here in one piece.
Funny Story: My mom called saying she spoke with the shop I purchased my dress from and they shipped it out on Tuesday. But she also mentioned that there had been a big firey wreck on I-40, the path my dress would head in route to my house! My dad was half joking, and said “Geez….I sure hope Jennifer’s wedding dress didn’t end up in that wreck!” Ahhhhhh! Is all I could think.
Luckely, things worked out and my dress is here and I couldn’t be happier. It took 3 flippin’ months for them to make the gosh darn thing. Maybe I should have just worn a white tennis skirt & polo shirt! Cheaper and no wait to have them made.
TTYL,
Jennifer
Wow! There are less than 100 days left till the big day. If you are wondering if the nerves are kicking in my answer is yes. But my nerves are not what you would think. They have nothing to do with my marriage to Derek. I love that boy more than you can ever know. My nereves are over planning the dang event.
I still don’t have someone to make my wedding cake, nor do I have someone to play at the ceremony or reception. I am waiting to hear back from people on the music. Ahhhhhhh! I wish someone would just take the last bit of planning on themselves and let me just kick back and relax till the bid day. Yeah, like that would happen.
Hey, one bit of good news. I decided to design and print my own invitations, and I am down to printing the last 25 today!
