The Long Awaited Couch

Tuesday, February 16th, 2010

It’s here, it’s really here.  Pottery Barn finally called last week and delivered our couch.  Although the color may be lack luster let me tell you that we tested many colors and fabrics before we settled on this one, and the Brushed Canvas in Walnut was a perfect camouflage for our two dogs massive amounts of fur they shed each day.   The dogs are not allowed on the furniture and we still find plenty of fur on the cushions.  It’s chaos I tell you.  The color of the couch is a nice neutral to our boldly green walls.  I think with a few colorful pillows added to the mix it will really look nice.

The picture below is before I ironed the slipcovers.  I have since ironed them and put them on properly and it looks even more wonderful.

Anywho….when Derek opened the door for the delivery guys to bring in our new family member he was met by a man standing with red roses in his hand.  Derek asked the guy if this was the most awkward part of each delivery.  The man answered YES.

pb flowers & note

The rose is part of what PB calls their White Glove Delivery.  Two delivery men come to your home with your new furniture with you guessed it, white gloves, and totally set up your new furniture.  This is accompanied by a hand written note from a PB employee (not really certain who) and a rose.  I think the rose is typically for the woman of the house, but occasionally they get awkward situations like the one today with Derek, when the lady of the house is not at home.

Did I mention that this has to be the most comfortable couch in the world?  Well, I meant to.  When you sit on this thing it’s like melting into a cloud.  Really!  You just m-e-l-t.  Derek and I honestly considered sleeping on the the couch together the 1st night.  This couch is deep enough for two adults to lay all the way across at the same time without the risk of one of them teetering on the edge and falling off.
