Star Wars Inspired

Monday, November 2nd, 2009

I know that I submitted my poor little pups to the craziness of having to wear a Star Wars inspired costume this Halloween, but I think I just found their outfits for next Halloween.  What do ya’ll think?

MMS for the iPhone is Here!

Friday, September 25th, 2009

Today is a big day for iPhone owners.  Today people is the day that AT&T finally allows MMS messaging (sending photos via “text”).  I know I haven’t owned an iPhone all that long, but I have suffered at the hands of AT&T’s pity party where all they do is say “we don’t allow MMS for iPhone users because it would be too much of a strain on our network….blah, blah, blah…waaaaahh!”  Well, Mr. AT&T, maybe you should have thought about that before you signed an exclusivity contract with Apple.  You know the company who has come out with a 1st of it’s kind phone that everyone knew would be a B E A S T in the mobile phone market.

Then you go and say, “Hey iPhone users even with the unprecedented success of the iPhone we now have so much money that we have begun using it to line our kitty litter boxes, we still don’t feel like putting in the time or  money to beef up our network.  So we decided that just iPhone users will NOT be allowed to use our network to send MMS.  We have you locked in for a solid 2 years, and possibly more if we can get Apple to extend our exclusivity contract.  So nah, nah, nah, naaah, nah!”  AT&T all you had your sights set on were those billions, upon gazillions of dollars pouring into your bank account.   BULLIES!

Because of their little “issue” I couldn’t just send Derek a picture on the fly, say of the cute little wooden elephant I saw at Target that I just had to own.  Or when I sent him to the store to pick out a frame for the photo that was to be displayed of us at our wedding, and the kid called me attempting to explain the difference between the two frames he was looking at.  Being able to send me a picture would have saved me, a bride-to-be at the time, about 30 minutes of the 1 week that was left before my wedding.  Let me add that I love my husband more that you will ever know, I think he is a brilliant man with great potential and good values, but the guy is horrible at describing things to me.  The poor thing can’t describe that ice is cold; without confusing the stew out of me.

Anyway, enough of my ranting.  The iPhone now has MMS!  Yea!!!!!!

So I Got Me an iPhone

Tuesday, September 8th, 2009

For my birthday (and because my contract was up with my current carrier) Derek and I took a trip to the Apple store on Sunday and got me an iPhone.  Because Derek already had a black one, and I have been pushing myself to be a bit bolder with color (or lack there of) I decided to get <insert hick accent here> one of them fancy white iPhones.

Since Derek made me wait a full 2 years to get one, and he was feeling generous (probably had something to do with the foot rub I promised) I decided to get one with a MAMMOTH memory.  This bad boy is pretty sweet.  Not only is it the new 3Gs model, white, in an adorable hot pink case, it has…

……….:::::::::::::::::::::::: wait for it ::::::::::::::::::::::::……….

…32 gigs of memory!  That means I can put tons of my beloved podcasts, most of my music library on it (18 gigs worth), and still have room for a movie or three.  WICKED AWESOME!

I got the Magenta Slider Case by Incase to help protect my precious baby, and put Power Support Anti-Glare Film Set for iPhone 3G(s) to protect the screen.  These anti-glare films are amazing.  Not only do they get rid of screen glare, but they help protect against fingerprints & smudges, and it makes the screen easier to glide your fingertips across.  Back to my sweet magenta slider case….it comes with a little stand to prop up the phone for moments like the one on my honeymoon when you are watching movies on the plane and you have to hold the phone for the duration of the movie or find a way to prop the thing up.  NOT FUN!!!

It’s Happening People….WWDC09

Monday, June 8th, 2009

WWWDC09 is in full effect.  Apple said they are adding battery time, slashing prices, and going even greener with their notebooks.  And that’s just the beginning.  I have been following the live blogging of Joshua Topolsky, from Engadget who is stoked about his “sweet aisle seat” at WWDC09.  I love geeks; they get excited about random stuff way too often.  “Three extra pieces of pepperoni on my slice of pizza?!?  No way!  Best Day E-V-E-R!!!”

They claim to have made Safari 4 faster, not only faster, but faster than all the  other browsers out there.  I tried Safari a few months back…on a PC and it was sooooo slooooowwwwwww.(zzzzzz…sorry, fell asleep just thinking about that giant time killer) I personally love Firefox, but it takes way to long to launch.  I also love the look, homepage thumbnails, and speed of Chrome, but it really needs some add-ins (i.e. – mouse gestures).  Can someone give me a Chrome/Firefox mash-up browser?

I know Derek is jumping in his seat at work today…they just announced that they built in Exchange support to Mail, Calendar, and the Address Book.  I know that Will, Robert, and Tim are exited because you have to be running Exchange 2007 to use the new Exchange features, and I believe someone just updated to 2007 or is about to.  You lucky boys.

And now for the reason millions of twenty to thirty something year olds are dialed in…the iPhone.

As most are, I am excited about the new features they are adding with the new iPhone OS 3.0.  The iPhone is awesome, but has been missing a few key features, or maybe just required a little fine-tuning.  They are adding cut and paste, iTunes movie purchases in-phone, a search feature, and landscape texting (MMS)…huge win for my husband.

One addition I find quite interesting and beneficial, and I know people that use their iPhone for business purposes will benefit from this, Remote Wipe.  If you loose your iPhone you can send a remote wipe command to your phone, and it will be wiped clean of any data.  So those “interesting” emails you sent your wife last week will no longer be able to haunt your dreams. Making you wake in a cold sweat wondering who is reading your love e-letters.

They also added TomTom navigation on the iPhone.  So for all you directionally challenged people out there, this may be a huge benefit to you.  We don’t even check for directions before we leave the house now.  With the Google maps and turn by turn/GPS the iPhone offers paper maps are now a waste of time and a huge headache…especially if they are not up to date.  Well, that’s the end of my lunch hour.  If you want to read play-by-play action from the Keynote check out Joshua’s coverage on Engadget.
