He Doesn’t Like the BOOM!
Wednesday, July 13th, 2011Grayson’s first 4th of July was fairly low key, but we did have some fun in the sun. Since Gray loves the water we made certain to take a dip in the pool. Gray and his daddy had a ton of fun goofing off. Grayson LOVES being chucked up in the air…can ya’ tell?

Doesn’t he look precious in those stripped trunks? And that big ole belly…

I hopped in there with the munchkin too, but Mommy just isn’t as fun in the pool as Daddy.

Look at my little water baby! Swimming already. Pay no attention to the man holding up his little belly.

While Gray was busy playing with grandma on the side of the pool Derek and I decided to have fun with water and the camera. Since Derek is mainly large child, of course, his favorite thing to do in the pool is make as big of a splash as possible. Here is some of his handy work. This one is actually kind of pretty.

After lunch the boys shot some hoops.

Then, of course, I made Gray do a little modeling. Isn’t that outfit just precious?

This one is like he’s saying “How you doin’?”

(I realize now that this photo is kinda blue-ish. I’ll go back and fix it eventually. Maybe)

This one just makes me melt into a big pile of mommy goo.

Eventually, he got tired of sitting still for Mommy and crawled into the house, and shut the door in our faces. Rude much?!?

Then, it was time for fireworks! Each year my in-laws neighbor put on a HUGE fireworks show right from his driveway. (Don’t worry he has permits and the fire department on stand-by.) This guy’s show is awesome! He even plays patriotic music during the entire show. Each year all we have to do is drag some lawn chairs down to the end of the driveway, sit back, and relax. It’s awesome. And FREE!

As I expected, Grayson was not a fan of the loud cracks and popping from the fireworks. Last year, when he was still in my belly, he would seem to retreat to the back of my stomach and get real restless when we would watch fireworks.

He did enjoy watching them as long as Daddy covered his ears.

During intermission he got passed around to grandparents and others since he finally released his death grip from Derek’s neck.

And as usual, he darted right for me to hold him. Only to flip right back around and want to run off again.

He was so thrilled when he got to sit in a big chair by himself. It’s the little things, right?

The fireworks started back up and he relatched back onto Derek’s neck. Poor kid. Maybe next year he’ll enjoy them. I hope.
