Rock Em Sock Em Robot…Party That Is

Friday, June 3rd, 2011

My once teeny tiny is no longer teeny tiny, and in just a little over two months he will be turning ONE. (Don’t mind me I’m just sobbing quietly in a closet rocking back and forth….no big D.) Can you believe it? And what one year old doesn’t want a throw down to celebrate the greatest (and only) year of his life?

About two months ago I started brainstorming boy birthday party themes/ideas. Luckily, about two months ago is when I also got a Pinterest account. Perfect! Do you have one yet? No? Go get one. You will thank me, or hate me for getting you addicted. As if I don’t spend enough time on the computer already. Sheesh!

Once I decided on a kick butt theme I got to pinning and planning. Can you guess the theme I’m going with?

I found some invites on Etsy that I loved, but they were almost $50.00 With us trying to save some dough around here I decided to design and print my own. I’ve also been working on a few other party details like water bottle labels, cupcake toppers, a banner, various other signage, and so on.

Since before I knew I was preggo I have been dreaming of a party to throw for the sole purpose of using these fablous gray paper straws.

Just my luck, robots are notorious for being gray. Well, except for the 1st robot in this post. Bad Robot.

So, that’s pretty much the plan, Stan. I really hope these next two months drag by. I can’t stand thinking that this little guy…

is now this big guy…

Has anyone out there ever thrown or been to a robot themed b-day party. If so, throw some ideas my way.

Happy Friday.

Surprise!

Monday, March 30th, 2009

This past Sunday my dad turned 60.  My mom and sister wanted to throw my dad a surprise party at my parent’s house.  Simply due to the fact that my dad lives at the house at which we were throwing the party, it made it that much harder to coordinate.  But with a little effort my sister, brother, mother, and I were able to successfully surprise my dad.  See, about 30 years ago my mom tried to throw my dad a surprise party, but my dad not knowing what was in store for his birthday somehow made it back to the house before any of the guest arrived.  (Way to go dude!)  My mother swore she would never throw him another surprise party….ever.  Well, I guess she changed her mind.

The party turned out perfect.  I have no clue as to how many people showed up, but I do know that the house was packed.  Many thanks to my new in-laws for helping with some of the food, helping set-up, and clean-up the party.  My sister, Stephanie made an awesome cake for my dad in the shape of his boat.  She nailed it on her 1st shot.  Hey, if the whole becoming a pharmacist doesn’t pan out she may have a future in the cake design industry.

I was keeping an eye out for the guest of honor.  I was there for a while….shouldn’t have started quite so early.
