It Seems Like Forever Ago

Thursday, July 28th, 2011

The day after I took these photos a major storm hit Memphis. And another the week after, and the week after that, and the week after that. Those storms were just the beginning of a string of bad luck happenings that my family has run into lately. I took these photos in April, and just last week we found out that our credit card was stolen. I mean come on! I thought bad luck was suppose to come in groups of three not multiples of three, because we are on like number 12 here, people. Posting some pics from this shoot just got lost in a big ole pile of chaos.

Anywho, here are a few of my favorites from a family session on an incredibly windy day. When I say windy I mean gusts of winds so forceful the next day all of those pretty tulips you see standing so pretty and tall had a nice 45 degree angle to them. I think the wind speed estimates were somewhere around 60 mph that day. It made for some difficult shooting. Girls you know what I mean. Wind is the enemy when it comes to looking put together. The only girls that can really pull of windy usually are 10 and under, like this sweet little one here…

Here is Joe and his mom. I hope Gray still lets me take sweet pictures with him when he’s all grows up.

I can’t believe this little milk dud is 6 months old now. My my, how time flys. And hair, on a windy day.

Grayson’s New BFF

Monday, June 13th, 2011

I would like to introduce you all to baby Kason. Kason belongs to our good friends Ryan and Sarah. After a struggle with infertility Ryan and Sarah prayed for another way for God to make them parents. God answered by putting the option of adoption in their hearts. After almost a year of waiting their prayers were answered. Kason was born on May 17th, 2011.

Sarah is a great photographer and took most of baby Kason’s newborn photos, but there were a few that she couldn’t take herself. So, she asked if I could help her out. I was so thrilled that she trusted me to take photos that were going on Kason’s birth announcement. Here are two of the shots I got of that sweet little face…

The best part about Kason is that even though he is adopted, he totally looks like Ryan. Even their baby pictures favor each other. The big guy upstairs really knew what he was doing when he made Kason.

Did I mention that Kason is destined to be our son’s BFF? With the names Kason and Grayson how could they not be? I mean their dads are best friends so what’s to say that our boy’s won’t be?

Sarah and I are already calling the boys by both names. I doubt they will ever notice us goof up their names with them sounding so much alike. I mean, it’s better than me calling Grayson by the dog’s name. Which I do often.

Congrats Ryan and Sarah. We love you and wish your family of three the best. And Kason, I can’t wait to watch you grow up, and maybe Derek and your daddy won’t influence you too much. *fingers crossed*

I Wonder If People Will Kiss My Ring?

Wednesday, May 11th, 2011

You know, like in The Godfather. Doesn’t Don Corleone make his goons kiss his ring because he’s the leader of the mob (a.k.a. – The Godfather) I think I will now request that my engagement ring be kissed by all that approach me in conversation. I’m thinking it will catch on. Don’t you? Wait, we are here to talk about a baby. Sorry.

Talk about cuddliness wrapped up in a blanket of cheeks surrounded by a fluffy cloud of melt-my-heart perfectness. Meet my precious, most perfect, adorably sweet, and tiny Godson, John. And yes, I mean the Catholic kind. As I’m sure most of you don’t know, I grew up Catholic. Yep, I even went to Catholic school with the mean nuns with rulers, uniforms…the whole bit.

When I found out that my brother and his wife were expecting I knew I wanted to take some newborn pictures for them. So, at 13 days young John and his mommy granted my wish.

This kid rivals Grayson in the size of his cheeks.

Just look at those tiny toes peeking through. I just wanna nibble them off. But, I won’t. I think my brother might get mad if I did.

At the end of the shoot my sister brought Gray in so I could get a few shots of the boys together. However, by this point John was just about fed up with being the center of attention, and certainly let us know.

Have I ever mentioned that Grayson LOVES other kids? He does. He is totally amazed by other tiny humans of the kiddy persuasion. Often times you find him just staring at random kids with wonder in his eyes. And know that waving is his new favorite thing to do he waves at every kid he sees. Even the ones in photos and on tv.

Here is my sweet little sister, Toof, (or Stephanie as her birth certificate states) with her two youngest nephews.

Thanks Mike and Katie for letting me annoy your child with the sound of my shutter. That’s not true, I turned that annoying beep off the day I got my camera. Who wants to hear “beep beep…beep beep” every time they focus on a subject? Not this chick, that’s who.

Whitney :: Maternity

Thursday, April 21st, 2011

Due to mass hysteria over here lately I’m way behind posting Whitney’s maternity photos. You can read more about the chaos, otherwise known as my life, here, here, here, and here. Mrs. Whit is now 39 weeks preggo and I shot her maternity photos when she was 34 weeks. Since baby Cadence will be making her arrival any day now I thought I would use Gray’s nap time to post about her shoot.

Without further adieu, here’s Whitney in all her baby bump glory…

Whitney and one of her furbabies, Mike Mike. Don’t let the name fool you Mike Mike is a girl kitty.

Aren’t her eyes amazing!?!

I absolutely cannot wait to meet baby Cadence. She will be one of two girls in a horde of baby boys.

Good luck little bit.

Too Cute for Words :: Asher 6 Months

Friday, March 11th, 2011

Do y’all remember this cutie pie I shot back in December?

Well, guess what. Asher just turned six months old and he is cuter than ever.

Don’t you just love that hat?

Who thinks dimpled baby tushies are so freaking adorable? I do! So I ask, why aren’t the dimples on mine quite so adorable? But I digress.

Asher’s grandma had these sweet little shoes made with his name and birth date on the soles.

Somehow in the middle of February we were able to find some green on the ground. I think most of it was moss, but whatever. It worked.

He’s like a teeny tiny lumber jack. This is one my absolute favorite pictures of all time.

Megan, thanks for letting me capture the awesomeness that is Asher…again. He’s such a good baby.

Pretty in Pink

Meet Carol Hannah.

Carol Hannah belongs to my good friends Ryan and Meredith. R & M are HUGE Memphis Tigers fans, and just because CH is a girl that’s no excuse for her not to love the Tigers. I’m sure they already have a season ticket purchased just for her. Tiger basketball is a big deal around here. But, just because she will love sports doesn’t mean that she can’t be sweet and girlie too.

Meredith and I just went crazy with the props for this shoot. The session lasted a bit over four hours. Seriously, if CH would have let us we would have gone even longer. This precious seven day old put up with us dressing and undressing her about every 30 minutes. Sorry CH. Don’t hold it against me. You were just so stinkin’ cute.

Here’s a peek at CH’s newborn session at just a wee seven days young…

While in attendance at one of Meredith’s showers I saw her receive a soft white bunny rabbit, but not just any bunny rabbit. A bunny rabbit in a petticoat. I knew immediately the picture I would take of a newborn wearing such an abundance of tulle and pink if give the opportunity. Well, I got the opportunity, and this was the shot that popped in my head…

I know, right?!

Ahhh….so much pink I can’t stand it.

Did you see the bow? How sweet is that bow?

Carol Hannah and daddy.

Mommy holding her sweet little teddy bear.

This last shot is one of my favorites from the session. I just adore how delicate CH looks in that beautiful bowl with all that light pouring over her. Uhhh! I just want to eat her up.
