Waste Your Time With Me

Monday, October 25th, 2010

Two years ago today was awesome.  Two years ago today I got married.  Here is a small glimpse of some of my favorite moments and photos of the day.

Okay, so these are from the evening before at the rehearsal dinner, but I’m still gonna share them.

Don’t you just love this dress?  It’s from Banana Republic.  I can’t wait to loose this baby weight so I can wear it again.

This photo is one of Derek’s favorites.  He says the tall grass behind me and my dad looks like fireworks.

And this one of me and my dad is my favorite.  We are walking into the chapel.  My hair, veil and gown look stunning.  Ahhhh….I adore this photo.  I love the contrast of the dark in the surrounding doorway and my dad’s suit to my bright white gown.

Here is our awesome photographer Lindsey Lissau.  My nephew snapped this shot of her while we were getting ready.  By the way, this girl was pregnant when she shot our wedding.  I don’t know how she did it.  I was zapped of all energy during my 1st trimester.

That’s my dream camera around her neck.  I don’t know if I will ever justify buying one of those not being a professional photographer and all.

My little sis and maid of honor helping me get dressed for the big day.

Our first dance.  Oh it was so wonderful.  It was like there was no one else in the room.   We danced to a Phish song, Waste.  Don’t worry, it’s a prettier song than it sounds.  Follow the link and take a listen.  It’s really a beautiful song.

This is my Grandpa.  The picture more than explains his personality.

The beautiful chapel we were married in.

These next three photos are of the guys and they are amazing.

In this pic the guys are cracking up because the photographer asked Derek to say something funny and he chose to say “BALLS.”  Isn’t that nice.

This pic total reminds me of a scene right out of Reservoir Dogs.  Don’t ya’ think?

Here’s me.  Loving the white on white.

My adorable nephew, the ring bearer.  Everyone loved the hat.

We had cartons of milk on ice at the reception, because the grooms cake was a tower of desserts.  Mainly Ooey Gooey Cake.  Gotta have milk with that.

Finally, here we are leaving the reception.  We had such a wonderful time that day.  Wish you all could have been there.

Emails I Often Receive

a common email conversation between my husband and i.
Derek: I was just going to see what your ip address was on your work computer.

Me: I know that!   123.45.678.91 (this is not my actual ip)
Derek: At a command line do:  ping 12.3.4.56 (not his), and tell me if it replies…thanks!
Me: Yup…it replied.
Derek: That answers my question…thanks!
Me: Did I do it right?
Derek: Yes you did…you are a genius!
Me: Duh

The “Charlie Work” Anniversary

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

Sunday was our 1st wedding anniversary.  I couldn’t have asked for a better first year with my sweet, sweet husband.  Derek and I got close quick, but not in the way you would imagine.  You see, Derek and I began dating back in November of 2005, and in February 2006 just three short months later Derek broke his leg, and I had just quit my job (worst job/boss ever…that’s another story) and was able to stay with Derek and help him with his recovery.  This way his parents didn’t have to take off work to help him recover.

b&w

Derek broke his leg clean in half and had a titanium rod inserted into his bone.  Yea…ouch is right.  With this surgery, they don’t put on a cast, the rod is your cast.  For two weeks I had to help this poor kid get to the bathroom, I had to wash his hair, cook for him, clean “around” him, and make sure he was keeping up with his medicine and blood clot prevention treatments.  I’m sure for most this would have ended the relationship, but it only brought us closer.  We learned a lot about each other in those few short weeks.

Back to our 1st Wedding Anniversary story….

We decided to start the weekend off with going to the local Haunted Corn Maze and then out to dinner on Saturday night.  The corn maze was a bust.  We w-a-y underestimated the amount of rain that fell the past few days and were not prepared to sacrifice our shoes to the Murky Mud Maze.  We decided to forgo the muddy maze and come back later in the week, but it hasn’t stopped raining since Saturday.  Maybe next year.

Since we were not all muddied up we headed to Huey’s a local burger joint, and one of our favorite places to just kick back and eat.  I had planned to take pictures while walking through the corn maze, but I had to settle for a picture of us outside of Huey’s.  We exchanged presents at midnight.

Here is what I gave Derek, passes for “Charlie Work,” a new iPhone radio alarm clock, dog washing passes, foot rub passes, and head, neck, and shoulder massage passes.  He loved them.  His gift to me was perfect, but I just don’t know how to write about it.  Especially if I don’t want to burst into tears.  I might fry the keyboard with all the water flowing from my face.

If you watch It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia you will know what Charlie Work is.

Sunday, we started the day off with heading to church, we got Pumpkin Spice Lattes and a Morning Bun (my new fave)  from Starbucks after service, then we headed to the Pottery Barn Outlet.  Unfortunately, we didn’t buy anything on this trip, but it makes me happy just to walk around that store.  We stopped by my parents’ house to enjoy the top layer of our wedding cake.  Still as yummy as I remembered.

Then we ended the day by taking in a movie.  We saw Couple’s Retreat. This was a pretty hilarious movie.  I am a huge Vince Vaughn fan, and have been since he made the movie Swingers.  We decided not to go out of town for this anniversary, because (as I mentioned here) we are saving to take an amazing ski trip to Whistler, Canada in December 2010.  Can’t wait…sooo excited!  I think we will count the ski trip as a second anniversary trip.  December is kind of close to October.  Kind of…

Cougar In Training

Monday, September 14th, 2009

Today is my birthday.  I am turning the big TWO…NINE.  Don’t feel bad for me, I’m fine with it.  The person you need to have pity for is my youngin’ of a husband, Derek.  He’s only26.

I figured why wait till my 40′s to become a cougar?  Why not get the 1st one while I’m young too, and just train him well?  It’s like getting a dog; train them well when they are puppies and they will be your faithful companion till the end of time.

Wanna see how loving my puppy husband is?  On a typical day I pack my drink bag in the morning, but he beat me to it today.  When he packed my bag he snuck in some sweet birthday notes for me.  He’s a keeper!

Fireworks on the 4th

Monday, July 6th, 2009

Did everyone have a wonderful 4th?  I sure did.  This was my 1st married 4th of July, and the 1st Independence Day spent with my inlaws.

july-4th-1

We spent a good portion of the day at my in-law’s pool.  My mother in-law and I caught some rays while Derek and Davis goofed around in the pool.  My father in-law smoked some delicious and extremely messy ribs.  We watched a couple of movies, played a few innings of wiffle ball GIRLS VS. BOYS, and indulged in some brownies a-la-mode…with homemade almond ice cream.

It was a perfect day with one exception…my parents, brother, and sister were not there with us.  My parents drove down to New Orleans with my nephew to visit my grandparents and uncles for the long weekend.
