I Heart Faces :: Innocent Wonder

Monday, January 24th, 2011

I’m back! I haven’t participated in an I Heart Faces challenge in a looong, looong time. Babies will do that to you. Speaking of babies, mine is the subject of my photo for this week’s entry, Innocent Wonder.

A few weeks ago Memphis got it’s first snow which fell right in line with my little dude’s 1st snow. He was only 4 months old at the time so I plopped him in his Bumbo, and plopped the Bumbo in the snow. He loved it! Since he is at the age where he feels the need to grab EVERYTHING in sight he had no problem going after the fluffy white stuff on the sides of his seat.

So, I tried to give him a snow ball to see if he would throw it. Okay, so 4 month olds don’t really “throw” things. They more drop stuff. Whatever. He just stared at it and touched it. No throwing/dropping occurred. Bummer.

Week 49

This picture is of my dog Wrigley as my husband desperately attempts to put her Yoda ears on.  For Halloween I decided to buy a doggy Yoda costume and have a little photo shoot with our dogs.  Although this is more of a candid shot it is one of my favorites.

Wrigley just found her ball under the couch, and was clinging to the thing like it was her security blanket.  So freakin’ cute!

Week 47

This week’s photo challenge on I ? Faces is….Tooshies.  Naturally, I thought of this photo of my beautiful friend Megan.  This is one of her bridal portraits from her wedding day in October 2007.

Week 45

I understand that this photo isn’t going to win any awards due to the blur, but it is one of my favorites.  This is a shot of my now husband and nephew while on a walk in my parent’s neighborhood.
I miss having my nephew at this age.  Everything was so new and exciting to him.  I love seeing that smile of discovery on his little face.  Not to mention…his hair matches the color of the firery red leaves.

Week 38

This is a picture of my husband, Derek, putting his “Dirty Santa” gift from last years Christmas party to good use.  The only thing exceptional about this photo is that he is picking his nose with a big blue foam finger, and I just wanted to share this image with the world.  Enjoy!

I Heart Faces :: Contemplative

Sunday, September 13th, 2009
Week 36

This week’s I ? Faces theme is contemplative.  My entry is of my husband, Derek, on our honeymoon contemplating the afternoon’s activities.  We had just finished a delicious meal at a outdoor grill in St. Marin in the French West Indies, and he just seemed to daze off with a full belly and a wandering mind…of what to do with the rest of our afternoon.  We went shopping!

For the non-judged pet category I give you a picture of my dog Cohen.  I took this picture of him while we were in the Ozarks camping a few years back.  Unfortunately, Cohen gets car sick and requires sedatives to travel.  We know that he loves walking trails and climbing rocks, but he just gets un-nerved on the ride there; so we give him a mild sedative for the 3 hour drive.

The sedative usually has not worn off by the time we arrive at the camp ground so he wanders around the campsite a little dreamy-eyed.  Occasionally, you will find him paused and staring at random objects….like he is contemplating what he should do about this pebble that is 5 feet in front of him.  Should he back track and find another path around this tiny pebble or try to fake it out once he approaches it with his fancy foot work?

Fix-It-Friday :: Cutie Pie

Friday, September 4th, 2009

I was not on my personal computer when I did this edit for Fix-It-Friday so I used one of my favorite online photo editors, Picnik, to assist in my edit of this adorable boy with the big plump lips.

my fix

For my fix I used Picnik and did the following…

  1. Increased the highlights about 50%
  2. Dropped the color temp just a bit & slightly increased the saturation
  3. Used the Orton-ish effect under the “Create” tab
  4. Used the dodge tool on the whites of his eyes (just enough to make them POP!)
  5. Used the Focal Soften technique (focused on his eyes and mouth)

To see more of this cutie pie, head on over to I ?Faces.
