Cohen’s BFF

Wednesday, November 18th, 2009

While reading one of my favorite guilty pleasure blogs, Cute Overload, I came across a post that lead me to a PeoplePets.com article about the world’s tallest dog, Titan.  Titan is a Great Dane that towers over other pups at a stagering 42.25 inches, and he weighs 190 lbs.  THAT’S CRAZY!

World's Talles Dog

Titan’s owner rescued him from a breeder right here in Tennessee in 2005.  By the way, did I mention that Titan is deaf?  Well he is.  One of the many things that is even more miraculous than him being the world’s tallest dog, a white Great Dane (white danes are almost always deaf), Titan knows sign language.  And up until two years ago Titan endured epileptic seizures.  Poor baby.  I hate to hear that about any animal.  You can read more about this Too Tall Titan on his website, Titan & Friends.

Reading about this awesome dog named Titan, who beat the odds, reminds me of another dog named Titan that I know.  The Titan I know is owned by my friend Shannon.  We occasionally would watch Titan for Shannon when she would have to go out of town.  This Titan beat the odds too.  This poor baby had Lupus which made everything he did painful.  They even gave him less than a year to live.  Well guess what….that was almost 3 years ago.  Way to go buddy!

Titan and Cohen look exactly alike from behind.  It’s hard to tell them apart if they are not facing you.  Due to Titan spending a few weeks with us, he and Cohen became best friends.  Seriously, these two are a hoot when they are together.  Cohen still gets excited to this day when he hears Titan’s name.

She Loves That Tennis Ball

Sunday, November 8th, 2009

Wrigley has a love of tennis balls.  She doesn’t like to play fetch or anything like that, no this little girl just enjoys the gum like chewiness of those little yellow fuzzy circles.  She looks so freakin’ adorable when she does this.  It keeps her entertained for hours, or at least until it rolls our of her reach.

Star Wars Inspired

I know that I submitted my poor little pups to the craziness of having to wear a Star Wars inspired costume this Halloween, but I think I just found their outfits for next Halloween.  What do ya’ll think?

May the Force Be With You

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009

Since we have two LARGE dogs we don’t normally get the chance to dress them up like you would a smaller dog.  After seeing pictures of other dogs wearing this hilarious Yoda costume I just had to get one for my two.  I just had to.

I paid $14.95 for a costume that each dog wore a total of five minutes, but it was so worth it.  Personally, I think Cohen rather enjoyed the experience.

Cohen did the best when it came to sitting still for the pictures.  His facial expressions are belly-achingly hysterical.  If his pictures crack you up just imagine trying to keep the camera steady while shooting pictures of this kid.  Wrigley was not as good of a sport when it came to sitting still, but her pictures are just as funny but in a random pose/action kind of way.  Enjoy.

Then there was Wriggley.  She wasn’t quite as pleasant of a participant in this puppy photo shoot.  I think Cohen liked wearing the costume a bit too much.

Wrigley caught sight of a tennis ball under the couch, and she just had to have it.  So she slid down to pick it up.

She was so excited to have her ball.  She didn’t even want to play with it.  She just wanted to have it in her possession.  DONE.

Derek took her ball so we could try getting a better picture of her in her costume.

This is what we ended up with.  You can’t see Derek, right?!?

And then she stopped participating….

I think she was hiding from us.

Master Jedi Cohen

Friday, October 23rd, 2009

Here is another “mishap” shot from my little puppy photo shot the other night.  I was laughing so hard at this poor guy that the camera was shaking uncontrollably from the muscle spasms in my stomach.  I couldn’t get the kid to sit for the life of me.  If I tried to push his butt down he would stiffen his legs in preparation of a butt scratching.  You see, if it even looks like your hand is heading for his hips Cohen assumes that you are moving in to scratch his butt, and locks his legs so that he may brace himself for the sensational scratch-fest about to ensue….or so he thinks.

It’s almost as if he’s saying, DO I LOOK FANCY ENOUGH IN THIS?  Yes Cohen, you look very ~fancy~ .

Tub Time

Wednesday, October 21st, 2009

I was looking through our home videos the other day and came across this one of Wrigley’s 1st bath….her 1st bath as our dog anyway.  She is being such a good girl.

Now, she R U N S past the bathroom door with her ears pressed flat, and her head ducked down between her shoulders as if to say….IF I SCURRY BUY THE BATHROOM DOOR ALL CROUCHED DOWN MAYBE I’LL BE INVISIBLE, AND THROW ME IN THE TUB.

Look how tiny she is in this video.  She’s a healthy 70-something lbs today.  When we adopted her she had just weaned a litter of puppies.  This caused her to have a case of the droopy boobies.  (that ‘s the best thing I could think to call them)  If you look closely you can see them dangling in the video.  You will be glad to know that today you would never have guessed that she ever nursed puppies….7 puppies to be exact.
