Egg Party Time! Excellent!

Friday, April 13th, 2012

The Wednesday before Easter was a very busy day for my little man. My friend, Emily, had invited Grayson over for a egg hunting party, and that afternoon my mom’s work was holding an Easter egg hunt at their office for the kids and grandkids of the employees.

We started off the day at Emily’s house. The kids (well, the big kids) dyed eggs, and then we all went on an egg hunt.

My son spent most of the time riding the various toys on the back porch.

And the other portion of the time pushing around Emily’s 10 month old in her walker.

Last year Gray was only 7 months old so hunting for eggs was kind of out of the question, but this year, this year was different. Armed with his “putting things in buckets” skills he picked up at Halloween this boy was ready to find him some easter eggs. I wasn’t quite sure if he would keep with the whole egg hunting thing and instead drop the bucket and venture off in to a neighboring yard, but the boy totally surprised me. He was totally into it, and kept at it until all the eggs were found. He even attempted to knock on Emily’s front door as if we were trick-or-treating. Hilarious!

Once all the eggs had been collected all the kids headed to the deck to count how many eggs they found. Here’s how Gray decided was the best way to count his eggs. On his belly. Have I mentioned he loves doing things while laying on his belly? His Daddy taught him this and this child thinks it’s the coolest way to do just about anything.

After all that fun at we had to go home and take a nap, because at 4pm he had another egg hunt to attend at my mom’s work. It was so sweet. They had little easter baskets for the kids to use and take home, goodie bags filled with lots of fun toys, easter bunny shaped cakes, snacks, and the Easter Bunny was there too! And of course there was the egg hunt.

Even though he had some big kids to compete with Gray collected quite a few eggs.

–> Sorry, I just noticed I didn’t take out the gray background in these photo collages. Ooops! My bad.

Of course, my son went for the pink basket first. Everyone laughed and then sweetly encouraged him to go with a “manlier” color. The bottom right photo is of him stunned when the easter bunny came to visit. Gray kept trying to give the easter bunny high fives and fist bumps. He just followed the EB around with his tiny little had out saying “hi fi!, hi fi!”

How cute is his little pirate outfit? I just love it. It’s classic due to it’s JonJon nature, but not too frilly due to the pirate ship. I love the mix of traditional and edgy. See those shoes on his feet? They are Keen’s (Newport H2). Do yourself a favor and buy your son some. They are rugged, cute, and water proof. Just throw them in the wash and those bad boys are spick and span! They do cost a bit more that I like to spend on shoes, but they are well worth it. My little guy is hard on shoes and sandals. These allow him to have the coolness of sandals, the grip of tennis shoes, and the cuteness of expensive shoes. And they never look scuffed or worn. We will be using these for the beach this summer. I just can’t bring myself to put him in those weird looking water shoes.

He even stopped in my mom’s office to do a little work. What a work ethic that kid has. He must get it from his dad. No, I know he gets it from his dad. This child actually threw a fit when we tried to make him leave “his” office. He wanted to keep working. No joke.

Eeeeeeeegg!

Grayson really enjoyed his 2nd Easter. Can ya tell?

I was still getting ready for church with the little dude found and tore into his Easter basket, so I didn’t get any photos of him opening/digging into it that morning, but I guarantee he loved it. I did snap a photo of it with my phone the night before. After the easter bunny dropped it off, of course.

His easter basket pail is in there somewhere. I took a nod from a super cute little children’s boutiqe here in town called Itty Bitty Bella, and used the Bilibo I got him for Easter as a makeshift basket. He loves sitting in this thing, spinning himself around, and squealing “weeeeeeeeee!” It’s to cute.

This is about all the easter/springtime decorating I did this year. Like I said the other day, we are crazy busy around here these days and decorating for the season is the last thing on my mind. I did take the time however to make a little carrot garland for the fireplace. It didn’t take much time at all to make when you add it all up, but if you would have seen the span of time it took me to make it, 2 weeks, you might have guessed otherwise. Oh well, I got it done…the day before. *blush* See my precious little bunny? He’s a recent Goodwill score for $.99 thankyouverymuch.

I’m not loving the lines I added to the carrots. I think I used to thick of a brush to paint them on. I think I’ll go back and thin them out. I mean, I have a whole year to do it. Which probably means I’ll get ‘em fixed mid March 2013.

We went to church after the basket opening and Grayson “demanded” (like how I used demanded instead of threw a mini-fit?) to walk all the way in from the parking lot by himself. And let me tell you…we park in the BACK.

Look at this kid, can you tell he’s a people person by the way he’s pointing, walking, and greeting people on the way in the door? He’s awesome!

After church we went to my in-law’s for some egg hunting and lunch.

We did our best to get a decent family photo, but he refused to let either one of us hold him. This is the best we got. Not to horrible.

Grayson with his Doogle and DeDe.

After a wardrobe change and lunch Grayson moved to the front yard for a little egg hunting and gathering.

Every time he found and egg he would squeal his version of the word egg “Eeeeeeeegg!!!!”

Later that day we had my parents and our newly pregnant friends EEEEEEEKKKKK!!!!!, Jeremy and Rachel, over for a little cookout. Oh, and we watched our neighbors light a massive, and pretty certain not meeting any fire codes, bon fire in their backyard. May I remind you, we live in a semi-urban neighborhood….NOT the country. Our homes are decently close together. Like my house can catch your house on fire close.

So that was our Easter, nothing to exciting, but lovely just the same. How was yours? Did anyone else use the ever so popular burlap to make Easter decor? What did you make?

Peace Out, Homies

I thought it had only been 5 days since I last posted. I checked and it’s been closer to 3 weeks. Say what?!!!!! I’ve been so blessed with photo shoots lately I’ve totally fallen behind on posting. Oh, not to mention we are getting our little abode all gussied up, because we are putting this bad boy on the market! We’ve been painting, planting, and plucking (items that are cluttering up the place) to get our little baby all spiffy looking for her market debut. I promise to do better. Now on to the fun stuff…..newborn photos!!!!

Meet little C. He was just about 4 weeks old when I shot his newborn photos, and to be honest I was a little nervous about him being past the 2 week old mark. Newborns tend to be a little less corporative the older they get. Mainly because that’s about the time colic sets in. Well this little guy totally proved that theory wrong, because he was the most well behaved newborn I’ve ever shot.

I think he was so calm simply because he’s a classy kid. I mean, just look at that sweet mustache. You don’t have a mustache like that and not be the most classy and dapper fellow this side of the Mighty Mississip!

I mean…. come. on. Do you not love him?

Peace Out, Homies.

Curls, Curls Everywhere

Tuesday, March 20th, 2012
I didn’t know that red hair could be any cuter than being on the head of my two nephews, but I was wrong. Little M has the most beautiful red ringlets bouncing around on her sweet little head. Yes, brown curls and blonde curls are beautiful too, but red curls are the perfect combination of light and dark offering unbelievable contrast for photos. I’ve never wanted to be a hair photographer (if there is such a thing) more in my life than taking these photos.
Little M was a little reluctant to be in front of the camera at first, but we found a way to get that amazing little personality to make an appearance. And I’m so glad we did, because it made for some beautiful photos. Don’t you think? I mean, come on!!! Look at those curls and big blue eyes.

Mini March Madness

Monday, March 19th, 2012

I haven’t posted any video’s of the kiddo in a while, and this one of him playing basketball is a must see.

Grayson got this basketball goal for Christmas and has been in love with it ever since. We play basketball at least twice a day now. He even makes us “block” him. I have a feeling March Madness will be a very big part of this boys life.

Citrus Lane :: Have You Joined Yet?

Monday, March 19th, 2012

Well, our second Citrus Lane box came yesterday. I must say I did like last month’s box a little better, but this month’s was still pretty awesome. I let Gray unpack it since most of the stuff is for him.

This month was all about dining out with baby. Gray’s box had a reusable snack bag, a snack stacker, 2 new Ella’s Kitchen food combos, organic food pouches (you add water/milk/bm to them like baby rice cereal), and some skin cream for mommy. Oh, and quite a few coupons!

Grayson was in love with the snack staker. It was completely empty, but he carried it around with him all afternoon. I guess he was preparing for all the times he will get use his new snack staker. I must admit, it is really cute and such fun bright colors. I kind find myself drawn to it too.

As for the reusable snack bag, I was recently thinking about purchasing some of these. This little guy will give me a chance to see if I really do want to invest in a few more of these snack bags. It’s like CL can read my mind.

Gray’s favorite “bag food” or as he calls them “bag” is Ella’s Kitchen. Of course, my child would like the most expensive brand. I must admit they really do taste quite good, and so much better than the Gerber bag food. The bag food they sent in this month’s box was a bit different than the fruits and veggies Gray is use to from Ella’s. Although this photo doesn’t show it he did not seem to like eating chicken casserole from a bag. We haven’t tried the other flavor, but I’m willing to bet that he’s probably just gonna stick with the fruits and veggie bags if he has any say in it.

After I posted about what I got last month quite a few of my friends said they were signing up for a box. I can’t wait to see what everyone else got this month.

Then I made him take a picture with me. He just wanted to hold the camera.

The End.

Project 366 :: Week 6

Thursday, March 15th, 2012

Sunday :: Feb 5 – My boys started off Super Bowl Sunday by watching them a little basketball on tv. We have found that Gray is a BIG fan of basketball, or as he likes to call it “buh-ball”.

Monday :: Feb 6 - Did a little sidewalk/driveway chalk drawing. He was more intresed in climbing the porch steps and looking through the fence for the dogs. One thing he did enjoy about the chalk was learning to play hopscotch. He loved hopping.

Tuesday :: Feb 7 – I awoke to find that the kid had scooted or pushed (I still don’t know) his crib a good 8in away from the wall. I don’t know for what purpose, but it’s becoming a daily thing.

Wednesday :: Feb 8 – We made edible play dough, and it was a huge hit. It was made out of peanut butter, powdered sugar, and butter.

Thursday :: Feb 9 - We had my inlaws over for dinner and they brought the food. I love having guests over. And I really love when they bring yummy food with them.

Friday :: Feb 10 - Tried his first Oreo. My findings: he loves Oreos. Later that day we had dinner with our friends Ryan & Sarah and their little boy Kason.

Saturday :: Feb 11 – We enjoyed a saturday at home while Grayson enjoyed playing with the bulldozier his buddy Kason gave him the night before.
