The Crack Bread Recipe

I promised you all the recipe to the AMAZING bread that we served at Grayson’s 1st birthday party. Seriously folks, this stuff ain’t called Crack Bread for nothin’. I have loved the foodie website Plain Chicken for years now, and this recipe sealed the deal. I will be proposing marriage to Plain Chicken next week.

Cheddar Bacon Ranch Pulls (a.k.a. Crack Bread)

1 unsliced loaf of (round is preferable) sourdough bread
8-12 oz cheddar cheese, thinly sliced
3 oz bag Oscar Mayer Real Bacon bits
1/2 cup butter, melted
1 Tbsp Ranch dressing mix

Using a sharp bread knife cut the bread going both directions. Do not cut through the bottom crust. Place slices of cheese in between cuts. Sprinkle bacon bits on bread, making sure to get in between cuts. Mix together butter and Ranch dressing mix. Pour over bread. Wrap in foil the entire loaf in foil and place on a baking sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes. Unwrap. Bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until cheese is melted.


(P.S. – There is also a recipe for Cinnamon Roll Pulls on Plain Chicken that look just as intoxicating as the Crack Bread. I’m gonna have to make it for my boys soon. Cuz everybody needs a little crack in the morning. Wait, that didn’t come out right.)

  1. I made this bread and used the whole pkg of ranch dressing. It was AWFUL. So salty i had to throw it away. Second time , I didn’t bake it uncovered so the cheese was not all melted.
    I will try a third time. This time I will read the directions every step of the way!!

    • Oh, I hate things with too much salt. I wonder if a different brand of the dressing would make a difference. I hope the third time is a charm. I must say, when you get all the flavors balanced this bread is divine!

    Delicious and easy to make!! I highly reccomend this yummy recipe!! Next time I will try the Cinnamon roll…which also sounds delicious!! Enjoy!
