Pain Tolerance
We are currently taking classes to prepare us for having a baby. Over a seven week period you learn everything from epidurals, timing contractions, breast feeding, baby 1st aid, and the best part….breathing during labor!
At the end of our 1st four classes we focused on breathing techniques. The labor coaches/dads-to-be sat in chairs behind the mommies, and counted to help aid the breathing process. It did not help me one bit. It made me laugh.
But the thing that made me laugh the most was when the instructor requested that the coaches put the item that the mommies had been using as a pain stimulus on their ears. You see, us girls had been placing huge clothes pins on our ear lobes as a pain stimulus. The instructor said it would give us real pain to work though during the breathing exercises.
On the coaches it was just plain funny.
