Good From a Bad Situation

On the way into work this morning I witnessed a kind act that came from a terrible situation.  As I drove past an elementary school I pass each morning I noticed two cars stopped in the middle lane of a three lane road.  Cars in front of me were diverting their path to either side to maneuver around the seemingly parked cars.

I then noticed that the cars in only my lane, the left lane, were slowing down to a pace that was slow even for rubberneckers.  Little did I know, they were trying to avoid an object in the road.

It seems someone’s kitty was crossing the road in the early rush hour traffic and never quite made it.  I will leave out the description, because I will probably start crying.  Lets just say that that sweet cat is now in heaven.  The cars in front of me, and myself, slowed down so that we would avoid this sweet “early to meet his maker” kitty.  It seemed, out of respect, no one wanted to even come close to hitting this poor little guy AGAIN.

After seeing the mangled cat in the road it gave me reason, since I was already driving the speed a 90-year-old runs, to examine what I could of the two car parking lot to my right.

Here is my take from the situation….

Car A saw the cat attempting to cross the road, and tried to avoid it by slamming on her breaks, but failed in that attempt.  This failed attempt caused car B to rear end car A….hence the two car parking lot.  In an effort to gain insurance info, and check on the driver of car A, the driver of car B, walked to car A’s driver’s door.  The male driver of car B noticing that the female driver of car A was distraught from the recent events crouched down next to the open door of car A to console the driver.

At a time when he was most likely was on his way into work, in the middle of rush hour traffic, a kind man took time to console a complete stranger.  A stranger that caused an accident.  This man could have just called the cops to report the accident and move on with his day, but he decided to take time out to help someone who’s heart was hurting.

I love when I have the opportunity to witness a pure act of kindness.
